Financial Aid Policy
All Saints’ Episcopal Day School subscribes to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid and is strongly committed to need-based financial aid. Need is determined by the information received from the SSS, the family’s income tax information, and the family’s discretionary money. Financial aid decisions are made independently from admission decisions, and do not affect a candidate’s chances for admission.
The goals of the All Saints’ Episcopal Day School Financial Aid Program are to provide deserving students with an opportunity for an independent school education which might otherwise be unobtainable for them, and to provide the School with a well-qualified, diverse student body. For families interested in an All Saints’ education, the cost of tuition should not be the determining factor in whether or not to apply; however, the School expects that a family will be willing to make what could be significant adjustments in the use of discretionary resources when those are available. When allocating financial aid funds, All Saints’ believes it is important to first fund families who have an existing relationship with the School, and families who bring ethnic, racial, and socio-economic diversity to the community.
The first step in applying for financial aid is to submit your financial statement to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). The information received from SSS is the starting point in determination of the financial aid award. Additional information required includes copies of a family’s W-2s and tax returns for the previous two years. When parents are separated or divorced, both parents must submit a financial aid application. Families who own a business must furnish a copy of the business tax return. Additional information may be requested if necessary to determine financial status.
The School assumes that all adult family members will work to contribute to the investment in an All Saints’ education. If the mother or father chooses not to work and there are no preschool children at home, additional income will be assessed to the family’s financial statement. Exceptions may be made due to personal circumstances, and at the discretion of the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. Parents returning to school or changing jobs as a personal choice must realize that a resulting decrease in family income cannot be underwritten by the All Saints’ Episcopal Day School Financial Aid Program.
If more than one child in a family attends an institution requiring tuition, All Saints’ requires that the family apply for aid at each institution. All Saints’ cannot subsidize tuition at other schools. Note: SSS computes the total funds available for education and divides that amount by the number of children attending tuition-charging schools.
Every financial aid award is made for one year and will be reviewed annually. Each year, and for each child, parents must submit the necessary forms to SSS by February 15. It is important to meet all deadlines. All Saints’ reserves the right to amend awards if new information comes to light after enrollment. The financial award offer is included in the enrollment contract sent in early March of each year. If the contract is not returned by the deadline stated on the contract, your award may be forfeited and given to another deserving applicant.
The policies outlined above are to insure equitable and fair distribution of financial aid funds. The financial aid process is conducted with concern and respect for the family’s privacy within the school community and all financial aid awards are confidential agreements. The School does not share information with any other party and families are not to discuss financial aid information with anyone outside of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.
