Lower School Reflects on the Meaning of Service

The students in lower school spent some time volunteering and learning how they can make a positive impact in and on our community.
At the end of October the entire lower school participated in their second annual Lower School Day of Service. As the 2015-16 school year comes to a close, the lower school students, pre-kindergarten through fourth grade, came together again—this time on campus to make a difference in the community. It was an opportunity to volunteer, as well as to reflect on all of the service the students participated in this year.

The Lower School Day of Service provided an opportunity for students, teachers, parents, and the entire community to be competent, confident, lifelong learners, who are responsible, caring, contributing citizens to the communities and diverse world in which they live.
  • Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students took this opportunity to show the beloved Maintenance Staff how much we all appreciate the work they do all year.
  • First and Fourth Grade students partnered with the Phoenix Rescue Mission. Students made and packed sack lunch bags in Manning Hall. They joined the fight against hunger and homelessness in Phoenix. Learn more about Phoenix Rescue Mission.
  • Second Grade students welcomed Habitat for Humanity to campus. The second grade students worked painting flower boxes and making cards for a family that will be presented with their new home on June 4. Learn more about Habitat for Humanity.
  • Third Grade students welcomed our friends from Phoenix Renews to the Peace Garden. They worked in our gardens learning about soil substation and different water systems for sustainability for the summer. Learn more about Phoenix Renews
