All Saints’ Episcopal Day School is pleased to announce the election of Leo P. Dressel as governing board chair of the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES). Leo steps into this role having first-hand experience as a board member of SAES and in Episcopal schools. He is head of school at All Saints’ Episcopal Day School—an accredited member of SAES.

Leo began his service as Head of School at All Saints’ in July 2009. A native of St. Louis, he earned two degrees from Saint Louis University (A.B. in Philosophy and M.A. in English) and an M. Div. from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley. Leo was a member of the Jesuit order (Society of Jesus) for 27+ years. All Saints’ is the fifth school that Leo has headed; his previous headships include a ten-year stint at St. Martin’s Episcopal School in the New Orleans area.

“The Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools has been and will continue to be blessed by Leo’s leadership,” shares The Rev David A. Madison, executive director-elect of Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools. “As the people of All Saints’ know, Leo brings years of wisdom and experience to the conversation. In his role as Chair of the SAES Governing Board, Leo will be instrumental in making sure that we are serving our member communities at the highest possible level.”

SAES serves 118 Episcopal schools, richly diverse in location, size and scope, throughout the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. SAES is a member in good standing with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Commission on Accreditation and is not only the single religious affiliated accrediting association recognized by NAIS Accreditation Commission, but also the only Episcopal accrediting association in the United States. Both of these factors combine to place SAES in a unique position to serve Episcopal schools both inside and outside its current six state region.

The mission of the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools is to lead, nurture, and unify Episcopal schools in order to advance educational excellence within the faith community of the Episcopal Church.
