Advisory
Each year middle school students are assigned an academic advisor. Typically, an advisor group includes the academic advisor and 11 students, with six advisor groups at each grade level. Students begin and end the school day in their advisor’s classroom. The advisor serves as a guide in navigating the school’s procedures, as an advocate in making sure each student’s needs are known and met, and as a liaison between teachers and parents. The advisor meets with the student to establish short and long-term academic goals, regularly monitors the student’s progress, reviews teachers’ academic reports and any behavioral concerns, and communicates with the parents.

The advisor-advisee relationship develops into a very special one as the advisor continues to offer support and advice and to acknowledge achievement and success throughout the school year. The students within each group also develop a bond as they enjoy celebrations together, participate as a group in chapel, and meet on Fridays for study hall.
