possibly one for each division (Middle School on Friday mornings, Lower
School on Thursday mornings).
Second Step Program Students in Kindergarten
through Grade Four participate in a curriculum once a week to help children
become socially skilled, form healthy relationships and develop strong bonds to
school. Students learn how to respond empathetically to others, calm down,
reduce anger and solve problems. Additional curriculum will be added in the
2009-2010 school year for Kindergarten through Grade Three in order to teach
children fundamental safety skills for a variety of situations, and to support
families and teachers in discussing sensitive but critical issues with children.
Students will gain a foundation of community safety rules for cars, traffic and
fires, then move on to the “always ask first” rule. They gain assertiveness
skills to use in an unsafe situation and learn about unsafe touch and how to
respond to it.

children of all ages. This will assist parents in making decisions about
the ever-growing access to media and internet. "Facebook for Parents” will be
one of several training/discussion sessions offered.
